In this lesson students will learn how a robotic arm works and the general structure of a robotic system. Students will learn that a robotic arm is not just a machine that moves automatically but a system that is controlled through input signals, code and electronic control systems. Students will learn the roles of the ESP32 and servo motors, while also learning about one of the most important concepts in robotics: the Input → Control → Output structure.
Robotic arm, just like a human arm, has several joints that allow it to move in different ways. These joints function like the shoulder, elbow, and wrist of a human arm. All the joints are movable in different directions and when two or more joints are in motion, the robotic arm can grab objects, rotate, or move to specific positions. In this project, the robotic arm uses multiple servo motors to control every joint.
Robotic arm technology is used in many real-world industries and engineering systems.
For example:
All use robotic arm systems.
One of the first and most important steps in learning robotics and automation technology is understanding the structure of a robotic arm.
Each joint of the robotic arm is controlled by a servo motor. A servo motor can move in a specific angle with precision unlike a normal motor that spins continuously. Because of this, servo motors are very useful for controlling robotic arms.
